Image Analysis
I would describe this photograph to a person who can't see it, as full of shapes and perspectives. The main focus of the picture is a tall road sign that the photographer is standing about half a metre away from. It is shaped like a triangle however, you only see the back of it in the photograph as the photographer wants to build a sense of mystery or guessing for the audience. In the middle ground of the picture there is a house, with a triangular shaped roof surrounded by trees. the trees are also shaped like upside down triangles and their branches are spread out evenly between each branch. In front of the house, there is a small caravan on a large part of empty concrete with parts of grass and shrubble scattered around. In the background of the picture there is a small line of telephone lines with small trees behind them and cars on the road infant of them. In this picture space has been used well. For example, in the foreground the road sign is close to the photographer and the clouds are miles away. However, the photographer knew that the clouds were far away and he knew that the road sign was close but he positioned himself in a way that created an illusion of them being close to each other. This forms another shape. Another reason on how space has been used well is that in the foreground there is the main road sign shape but as you get to the middle ground it becomes almost empty and builds up again in the background. In focus there are things in the foreground such as the road sign. There also are parts from the middle ground in focus such as the house or the caravan. Out of focus are things in the background such as the trees or the telephone lines. The part of the photograph that strikes me as the most interesting and captivating part of the image is the tree on the left side of the house because of the branches and the way they're spaced out.I think it would be dull to live in this photograph because there is not much around to do and there is not any people around either. I think that the use of different shapes is effective in this photograph. For example, there are a range of triangles and circles. I think this is effective because it makes the audience look for shapes and make them curious as to why the photographer has captured these shapes.
